The Modern Dance Class of 2022: That's All She Wrote
The Modern Dance Class of 2022 showcases a kaleidoscope of work in their final production of That's All She Wrote
The School of Dance proudly presents its graduating Modern Senior Class through a two-part concert at the Marriott Center for Dance. Named after beloved faculty member Eric Handman’s key catchphrase, That’s All She Wrote is a crowning capstone display of works choreographed, directed, and performed by the seniors. As they move towards graduation, their art reflects on their time studying together and looks towards the horizon of their future.
The Modern Senior Class of 2022 is a charmingly unique collective of movers, dancers, and artists who have spent the past four years discovering their own artistic voices. Two of those years were largely impacted by the pandemic, requiring them to move forward in the absence of perfect situations. The seniors are delighted to be able to present their work to a live audience after 2 years of isolated art-making.
The show embodies the range of this class by unifying their personal aesthetics in a brilliant array. The show culminates in a work curated by distinguished choreographer, Mike Tyus of Jacob Jonas the Company, in collaboration with the class of 2022.
“As president of our concert committee, I got to work with our classmates to commission a choreographer to create a piece catered for us. We were so excited to find Mike Tyus, an emerging artist and filmmaker, and we certainly learned a lot from our time with him as we collaborated to prepare this work for our show. Dancing together on stage for the last time as a cohort, we will remember our beginnings before we part ways to go out into the world.” said Brianna Bernhardt.
